General Information
Admission Policy
The purpose of Sylvan Way Christian Schools is to provide an educational and care facility to our community.
We welcome all children regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, or religion. We do ask that you understand our Christian emphasis and that we will maintain that bias throughout our program. We also ask that all families maintain a spirit of cooperation and pay all bills on time.
At this time, we do not have programs in the elementary that can help students with specialized needs. Students who have special needs would be better served by seeking programs that can provide that expertise.
Calendar & Newsletter
Our school calendar generally coincides with the local public schools calendars. A printed copy is available to all the parents in August. A monthly newsletter, The Eagle Call, is sent home to parents each month. We ask that it be referred to for upcoming events, calendar changes and important information.
Field Trips
Elementary and Middle School classes engage in educational field trips periodically, throughout the year, to enrich their normal studies.
Lunches
Lunches are provided for full-time Daycare only. Elementary students must bring their own lunch; however, milk is available by purchasing a milk ticket in the school office. In addition, our Parent Group offers a hot lunch once a month for a nominal charge.
Textbooks
All textbooks (except Bibles) are furnished by the school. Students should have their own New International Version Bible. Parents are financially responsible for any textbook that is lost or damaged by the student.
Textbooks and curriculum are selected from the best available in their respective fields. Excellence in content and keeping in character with a Christian philosophy are important considerations, although there may be items in the texts which we do not support. Such items are discussed by the teachers and explained to the students in the classroom.
Transportation
Transportation to and from school is to be provided by the parents. Parents may check in the office for names and numbers to form carpools. The arrangements for car pools shall be the responsibility of participants. Drivers are asked to follow the speed limit (5mph) and adhere to the orange cone barriers while on school grounds as these are there for the safety of the children.
