Philosophy & Objective
At Sylvan Way Christian Schools, our logo says "A great place for children to grow." We mean that sincerely. Our goal is to provide a loving, caring, family-like environment in which we can assist parents in the development of their children's spiritual, moral / ethical, academic, social and physical lives. All of these areas need attending to if the growth in each child is going to be maximized. Because we as believers know that the Bible is God's Word and useful for life, practice, and principles, it becomes the central guide to each of these four areas in educating students.
Spiritual Development
Each person is created by God and "fearfully and wonderfully made," (Psalm 139:14). Therefore, we seek to introduce each child to Christ, God's Son, at their level of spiritual understanding. They will, as their maturity allows them, hear Bible stories, sing Christian songs, memorize verses and study Bible characters.
Moral and Ethical Development
If our children are going to become strong, gracious leaders, we need to help them grow in developing strong moral character and ethical practices. Throughout the day they will learn about things like, respect, obedience, discipline, integrity, leadership and conviction. They will also learn that a life is full of fun: an excitement and joy to each day.
Academic Development
Our society demands excellence if we are going to survive as a nation. Children are the future and we need to prepare them to use whatever talents God has given them to be the leaders of ages to come. Each Sylvan Way Christian teacher is chosen carefully and charged with guiding their students in reaching their maximum learning potential. At the same time, they assist them in learning to apply the heart to matters of learning.
Physical Development
Each child grows at different rates and it is important to be aware of the stages each child goes through. One area of development affects another. We try to enhance each level of physical development so that they are ready for the next level. A variety of activities; visual motor, gross motor, eye-hand, left-right, fine motor and others, make up elements of our program, which helps each grow, and the staff to evaluate strengths and weaknesses. Activities are pursued indoors as well as out.
