Judy - Principal |

Judy has taught at several levels, from preschool to college, for over 25 years. She has a B.A. from Central WA University in Language Arts, and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Learning Styles, from Seattle Pacific University. Judy has also completed her Principals certification. |

| Kay - Daycare Director |

Kay has been working in our Daycare since 1997. She has over 16 years of experience working with children. Kay earned her Early Childhood Education certificate from Olympic College and an Associates Degree from North Idaho College. She enjoys teaching children and watching them learn and grow. She hand picks her staff looking for teachers who love the Lord and children. Kay is also our Sports Director and coaches girls Volleyball, Basketball and Track and Field. She also enjoys playing sports and participates on several teams including, soccer, volleyball and softball. |

Denice - Preschool Director |

Denice has nearly two decades of experience working with children of all ages, finding her start at Sylvan Way Christian Schools in the late 1980’s. In addition to preschool, Denice has been the Lake Side Bible Camp Director for five summers. She is also the wedding coordinator at her church, Sylvan Way Baptist, and coaches basketball in the Upward Basketball Program. |

Shona - Preschool Teacher |

Shona has over 12 years of experience teaching young children. This is her 2nd year here at Sylvan Way Christian Schools. Shona received her ECE Certificate from Olympic College. Her desire is to share her love for Jesus with the children she teaches. |

| Charlene - Kindergarten Teacher |

Charlene has taught Kindergarten at SWCS for over 25 years. She challenges her students with the academic program that she has developed. Kindergarteners learn to read, to work addition and subtraction problems in math and learn about the solar system, dinosaurs and sea life in Science. Charlene graduated with a broad area major in Art and Special Education from Central Washington University. She then returned to college and completed her elementary education requirements to become a Washington State certified teacher. She brings enthusiasm and a love of reading to all of her students at Sylvan Way. |

Vicky - First Grade Teacher |

Vicky has been teaching for over 20 years at Sylvan Way Christian Schools. She graduated from Central Washington State University in Special Education. She enjoys challenging her students in reading, math and science. Every spring her class learns about the life cycle of chickens. They have hands on learning with chicken eggs and an incubator. She and her students count down the number of days to hatching. They study the chickens until their soft downy changes to rough feathers. |

| Sally - Second Grade Teacher |

Sally has been teaching at Sylvan Way Christian Schools since 1990. Her love for reading and writing is shared with her students. During the year students study different types of storytelling, such as fairy tales, and fables then create their own stories. Prior to coming to SWCS, Sally taught secondary PE, Health and coached high school volleyball. Sally has a B.A. in Kinesiology from the University of Washington and an Elementary Education endorsement from Seattle Pacific University. |

Patti - Third Grade Teacher |

Patti has been teaching third grade at Sylvan Way Christian Schools since 1995. She started an innovative Social Studies program in 2002; students have hands on learning as they venture around our community, journaling everything they learn from their trips. Patti has a B.A. in General Studies from Seattle Pacific University. Since 1994, she has received endorsements in Art K-12, Special Education K-12, Early Childhood Education Preschool-3, and Early Childhood Special Education P-3. Patti was awarded a technology grant from the Gates Foundation in 2000. |

| Patti - Fourth Grade Teacher |

Patti has taught over 25 years in the elementary grades. She introduces her students to Microsoft Power Point. During the year, students prepare presentations for various assignments. Patti has a B.A. in Education from Central Washington State College. Previous to Sylvan Way Christian Schools, she taught 3rd grade at Bremerton Christian School and Grapeview Elementary School. She began her teaching career in Seattle, teaching 2nd grade at Northgate Christian School. Patti received a technology grant from the Gates Foundation in 2001. During the summer of 2002, Patti had the opportunity to travel to Korea to teach English and in 2004 she traveled to South Africa to instruct teachers. |

Karen - Fifth Grade Teacher |

Karen has been at Sylvan Way Christian since 1990 and has been in a variety of roles from teaching to Vice Principal and is currently our fifth grade teacher. She has a B.A. in Education from Bethel College in Minnesota. Karen enjoys challenging her students, getting them to ask questions that go beyond what is covered in class. She encourages them to explore their independence, trust their past learning and their instincts and become problem solvers. Karen’s hope is that each will be able to be strong in their relationship with the Lord, so they can take a stand for what is right especially as they face adolescence. |

| Denise - Middle School Teacher |

Denise started teaching at Sylvan Way Christian Schools in 2004. She has a degree in Mathematics from LeTourneau College in Texas, and a 5th year teacher credential from Simpson College in California. She has taught every grade from Kindergarten thru 12th grade. In addition, Denise has worked as an engineer and can fly and fix airplanes. Her goal for her students is that they grow in both knowledge of school subjects and God's grace. |

Robin - Middle School Teacher |

Robin teaches Language Arts in Middle School. She received a B.A. in education from Western Washington University in 1987. She also has a 5th year teaching credential from Seattle Pacific University. She has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades, with many years of substitute teaching at all grade levels. Robin enjoys spending time with her family and loves working with the middle school kids. |

Carrie - Middle School Spanish |
 |
Carrie has been our Spanish teacher since 2006, however that is not what brought her to our school. She also served as publicist and fundraiser for many years, and continues to work with enthusiasm on our Annual Spring Auction committee. Her previous career was spent in Public Relations and Marketing for a handful of secular and religious organizations and businesses. Carrie and her husband, have two children. Her joys outside of teaching include cooking, scrapbooking and reading. Carrie is currently enrolled in an online program for her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. |

| Linda - Middle School Speech/Drama/Social Studies |

Linda has been at SWCS since 2006. She taught for ten years at a Christian High School in Amarillo, Texas before moving to Washington. Linda hopes that her students in Speech and Drama will gain greater confidence in themselves and their abilities to present themselves in front of others. Her prayer is that they will become strong in their faith and be able to share it with other people. Linda and her husband have a ministry called “Mighty Oak Players”, where they entertain and spread the gospel by being clowns. They have appeared in television and print commercials in Texas. Linda also has a passion for writing and directing. She has directed one independent film and currently writing two film scripts. |

Chris - Teaching Assistant |

Chris started working at Sylvan Way Christian Schools in 1992. She enjoys working with children in the classroom and on the playground. Chris and her husband have three grown children and love spending time with them whenever possible. |

| Christine – Middle School Home Economics Teacher and Daycare Cook |

Christine joined the staff in 1997. She was a Teacher’s Aid in first and third grade until taking on the challenge of teaching middle school students how to cook. Christine has a passion for cooking and enjoys working with pre-teens. She also creates nutritious lunches and snacks for our Daycare. Christine and her husband have three children and are actively involved in the Youth Group at Sylvan Way Baptist Church. |

Joanne - Teaching Assistant |

Joanne has been a part of Sylvan Way Christian Schools since 2001 when her daughter started Kindergarten. Joanne started out as a parent volunteer and then became a full-time employee. She spends her days assisting in the classrooms as well as supervising children on the playground. Joanne and her husband have two children and both are active members in their church. |

| Rhonda - Band |

Rhonda started teaching at Sylvan Way Christian in 2006. She has a B.A. of Music Education in Instrumental, Orchestral, Choral Conducting, and General Music K-12. She had to learn how to play all band and orchestral instruments but her main instruments are flute, piccolo, harp and piano. Rhonda enjoys hearing a song played for the first time and then working the “bugs” out and then hearing the finished product. It’s then she knows she has taught her students well. Her hope is that each student will enjoy the beautiful gift God gave us called, Music! |

Shryl - Music Teacher |
 |
Shryl joined our staff as Music Specialist in 2006. She has studied Piano Pedagogy and Vocal Performance and received her Associates Degree in Music from Olympic College. Shryl loves that God has blessed her with the gift of music. She has been the Music Director at Silverdale United Methodist Church since 1993 and has taught piano and vocal music since the 1980’s. Shryl leaders worship for our school during Chapel, teaches classroom music and leads students in the Christmas and Spring musicals. |
